Membership
The American Legion Department of Michigan’s Membership Committee presents the 2021 Membership Incentive Program. Membership within our organization has been on the decline, and it’s up to all of us to make a commitment to turn this slide around. This year the Membership Committee is taking a fresh approach to membership.
Volunteer
Our volunteer programs are designed to stimulate friendships, create a sense of well being and a wide variety of activities thus enhancing the lives of those being served. With a great schedule of events and activities put on during the year, American Legion Post 281 relies on volunteers to make each of these events a success. And with a variety of activities, we think we have just the right volunteer opportunity for you.
If you are interested in other types of volunteer positions with American Legion Post 281, please let us know. The American Legion Department of Michigan brings over 100 million dollars in VA benefits directly to Veterans each year.
Our Story
The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans.
