Post 281 Harbor Springs
Our Veterans, Our Hometown
We are America’s largest veterans service organization working every day to uphold time-honored values & strengthen our community.
The American Legion Department of Michigan’s Membership Committee presents the 2021 Membership Incentive Program. Membership within our organization has been on the decline, and it’s up to all of us to make a commitment to turn this slide around. This year the Membership Committee is taking a fresh approach to membership.
Our volunteer programs are designed to stimulate friendships, create a sense of well being and a wide variety of activities thus enhancing the lives of those being served. With a great schedule of events and activities put on during the year, American Legion Post 281 relies on volunteers to make each of these events a success. And with a variety of activities, we think we have just the right volunteer opportunity for you.

What We Do
Even if you do not have time to volunteer or participate, just being a member helps hundreds of Veterans and their families every year. Membership dues help the Department of Michigan employee over 20 accredited veteran service officers to help Veterans with their VA claims. The American Legion Department of Michigan brings over 100 million dollars in VA benefits directly to Veterans each year.
The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans.
